Great find!

Looking to stock your stash? Then you need to head over to Thread-Bare, home of The Stitching Studio!

I discovered this little gem a couple months back thanks to Caitlin (Salty // Oat). It has awesome fabric at great prices. You name it, Ann (the friendly owner) stocks it: fabric by the yard, fat quarters, jelly rolls, and even a scrap bin. Caitlin and I were working on a collaborative quilt, and she said that Thread-Bare was the place to go (we were on a budget, since the quilt was for charity). We made out like bandits! Somehow, we only spent about $7.50 total, we picked out more than enough fabric, and when it was all said and done we still had fabric left over for a second quilt top.

This place is an absolute godsend—especially for someone who is new to sewing—you can pick through the donated fabrics and find some great deals. And, hey, if you mess up on the project you're attempting—it's okay—you only spent a couple bucks on the fabric. As I mentioned earlier, there’s even a scrap bin you can sort through (for free)! One gal’s trash is another gal’s treasure!

Here are the goods from my latest trip:

(The scrap bin had awesome remnants)

And for those of you who were wondering…. I’m still cutting away.

And ironing.

And measuring.

And cutting some more.

Right now it feels like there’s no end in sight!

Sew Busy!!!

(Cute button I made at the Austin Etsy Meetup a few weeks back!)

***

I started the prep work for the quilt last night! Just thought I'd take a quick photo (with my Dell Streak) and share the progress. So far, I'm loving the color combos!

As you can see, I still have a lot of work ahead of me... Hopefully, tomorrow afternoon will be rainy and I can resist the temptation of the pool and put a good dent in the prep work instead---maybe even finish. If I can start piecing together the squares this weekend, I'll definitely feel accomplished. Whatever happens I'll be sure to take more photos.

More Fabric!

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! It was too short for my liking, but I managed to be somewhat productive and photograph the second round of fabric.

Here's the new batch:

I'm looking for one more eye-catching purple and then that should do it. (I know! It's hard to believe that I need one more, but I do!)

Handy Tutorials

It has officially been one crazy week.

I've managed to pick out some additional fabric for the quilt (I'm going to need a lot!), but I have yet to photograph them... or start cutting... So, today I thought I'd share all of the handy tutorials I've discovered over the past couple of months, as well as some projects that are on my To-Do List.

Bias Tape Magic - Prudent Baby

DIY Bias Tape Maker - Creative Little Daisy

Quilt as you go - 4 part tutorial - SewTakeAHike

I can't wait to try this bias tape bag (thus all of the mad research on making bias tape) or this fancy shirt dress, so we'll see if I cave and have a Sidetracked Saturday!
